Yep, here we go. Drew this about 2 years ago, referenced from some pic or another in YnM, colored it today. I'm not completely satisfied with how it came out, but I knew it would be tough. :/ Should I have just left it as lineart?

Lusen, my original Al Bhed char from my FF roleplay Sacred Dust -- [link] -- I've been on a kick for him lately. He's my angst char, yep.

The kanji on the wall is the Hymn of Yevon, and 'Vnaa Sa' is Al Bhed for 'Free Me'. ^~

I like the kanji in the back. I'm not sure why you said you really weren't pleased with it. It -is-very good.

I dunno :/ When I did the gradient on his hair it really took away from the shading. Can't even tell, I might make the shading darker...also, I gave up on trying to texture the shadow on the wall to look the stone...and the dark shadows look nice on b/w, but with color it just makes it more comic-y. ^^
